Lake Sandoval is the main destination in Madre de Dios and one of the best places to see animals and enjoy the landscape. For this tour, we will depart accompanied by a guide from Sotupa towards the river port of Puerto Maldonado. From this point we will navigate along the Madre de Dios River until we reach the entrance of the Tambopata National Reserve, where we will begin a 3 km walk where we will be able to find a wide variety of animals, such as squirrels, capuchin monkeys, puffins, pichicos, several species of macaws, sloths, antbirds, tamanduas, toucans, snakes, among others, until reaching the shores of Lake Sandoval. Here we will take a brief break to sit down to eat, and then depart in small rowboats and look for black caimans, monkeys, birds, paiches and giant river otters. At the end of the activity, we will enjoy the landscape as we return to Sotupa.

  • For this Puerto Maldonado tour we will depart accompanied by a guide from Sotupa, sailing down the Tambopata River and the Madre de Dios River until we reach the entrance of the Tambopata National Reserve.
  • From that point we will start a 3 km walk where we will find a wide variety of animals, such as squirrels, black capuchin monkey, squirrel monkey, pichico monkey, red and green macaws, scarlet macaw, blue and yellow macaw, 3-toed sloth, 2 fingers, giant anthill, tamandua, toucans, snakes and lizards, until reaching the shores of Lake Sandoval.
  • At the end of the jungle activity, we will take a short break to sit down to eat, and then set off in small rowboats to look for black caimans, monkeys, birds, paiches and giant river otters. At the end of the activity, we will enjoy the landscape while we return to Sotupa by boat.

Fantastic days in the Amazon The lodge is lovingly designed, very well maintained and perfectly located. Watching the sunrise from the bed is a dream. The staff was very attentive and friendly. For my birthday there was a homemade cake. We liked it so much that we stayed 2 nights longer.

I liked that the lodge was so close to the city and at the same time felt so secluded. The cabin we stayed in had a beautiful river view. It is very spacious, comfortable and very protected from insects. I appreciated that they had vegetarian options in the meals.

Amazing Amazonian retreat Incredibly lovely and peaceful, beautifully immersed in the forest facing the Tambopata River. The rooms are huge and perfect, with an incredible river view. Unforgettable days A place of peace, in the middle of nature with access to the river where you can enjoy sunrise and sunset. The attention and staff are spectacular. An impression at the end of the world in the middle of nature It was just perfect. The feeling of being at the end of the world just 20 minutes from the airport. 6 all-wood bungalows with direct view of the river. A small refreshing pool, and above all a great guide, passionate about wildlife and who will share his knowledge during the many included activities. Really top!

My stay here was amazing! The location is fantastic, you are only a 20-30min drive from the airport but you feel like you’re in the middle of the jungle. The views are stunning and the accommodation perfect and much better than I expected. The staff are what made my stay perfect. I loved this place and didn’t want to leave ☺️

Loved it here!! Ciro was an outstanding guide, and the entire staff was super friendly and helpful. The rooms were really nice and the food was amazing. The pool was clean and refreshing on hot days. I really have no complaints and highly recommend!
