Alligator Night Search
On the banks of the Tambopata River we can observe different species of reptiles sunbathing during the day, such as taricaya turtles (Podocnemis unifilis) and white caimans (Caiman crocodilus), black caimans (Melanusuchus niger), dwarf caimans (Paleosuchus palpebrosus) and smooth-fronted caimans (Paleosuchus trigonatus). However, it is during the night that these tend to be easier to find, since they are nocturnal and wait for their prey on the banks of the river, their eyes shining when illuminated from many meters away. The night search for alligators takes place from 6 pm to 7:30 pm, in which we take a boat ride, keeping a lot of silence and lighting the banks of the river in search of the glow of these wonderful animals
